Sofia La Fuente

Sofia is a civil engineer by training and has worked in water projects in her home country Bolivia. In 2017, she started her journey in Europe where she completed a Masters in Water Resources Engineering in Belgium with the universities of KU Leuven and VUB. Her masters thesis assessed the historical and future impacts of climate change on precipitation and temperature indices for the whole of Bolivia. In 2019, she embarked on a new journey to start a PhD in limnology and climate change in Ireland, where she investigated the effects of climate change on lake evaporation at local, regional and global scales. After four years of fruitful research and various international collaborations with the ISIMIP, and GLEON she graduated with a PhD and moved back to Belgium, where she started as postdoctoral researcher for the Department of Water and Climate.
